Take a fascinating tour of the J. Hunter Pearls Farm in Savusavu Bay and witness thousands of beautiful pearls growing happily below the surface. Justin Hunter, an aquaculture expert, started this pearl farm over a decade ago and has created a working partnership with the local community and people of Kioa Island to turn his vision into reality. During the tour, you can get a closer look at the endless ropes dangling into the nutrient-rich waters with oysters growing in every direction. Your guide will also provide insights into the pearl farming process, from harvesting spat collectors and tying chaplet ropes to monitoring and checking the oysters. Afterward, you can view the polished and finished products in the J. Hunter showroom, available for purchase exclusively at Gellner, a prestigious pearl company in Europe. Luckily for visitors, J. Hunter also has its own line of jewelry, which you can purchase at the showroom, Prouds Duty-Free stores, and select resort boutiques.
